Shittiness

Sorry I haven't posted in a few days. Except for Sunday I have been working 16 hour days for a week. I am a wreck. I'm exhausted, my eyelids feel like sandpaper. My mind is numb. We have helium and I'M THE ONLY ONE WITH SAMPLES TO RUN. I've been running short (~ 4 hour) experiments all day, 8am to midnight and then I write a computer program for a long experiment to run while I sleep. Today should be the last day where we have helium (we ran out for awhile Sunday which is why I got stay home and watch baseball). That's normally a good thing. Except that my advisor wants a rough draft for a manuscript by Friday. I have an abstract and an assignment due for class on Tuesday. I'm suppoed to be writing my candidacy proposal. And oh yeah, I might be hauling five dumpster kitties to the clinic early Sunday morning for Spay Day. That's not for sure yet, they are officially filled up for this month, but my new connection is confident she can get me a coveted spot. I'm glad there are so many people who care about kitties, and maybe it would be best if I couldn't get in on Sunday. I already have an appointment to bring in five kitties for the annual Feral Cat Day event (you can bring in five kitties for free!). So definitely within the next month or so, 10 lucky kitties from behind the dumpster will have their sex organs removed. I'm sure you'll be hearing more about that.

And baseball? I don't wanna talk about it.

cheer up kiddo, we've won a world championship before (been there done that) we've NEVER had a catcher win a batting title or a twins picher win TWO cy young awards while with us. and MAYBE just MAYBE some sports writers will have some balls this year and vote for justin morneau for mvp, instead of another new york yankee.

It's ok, Nat. I mourn with you our recent debacle vs. Oakland. All the news up here can talk about is the missed play in center. Like one play or one person wins or loses games. Whatever. Hang in - there are sunny days ahead (and not just because we're headin' to CA).

See, all this makes it almost harder. In the past years, we were the little team that could. Now we have no excuse for sucking that hard. I haven't even wanted to turn on Sportcenter for fear of what they must be saying. Such a let down after Sunday. And I didn't watch the game today, but our offense lost both of those games. A team this good should not be held to five runs in two games. And Brad is going to pitch his heart out Thursday and give up a couple runs like he always does and we're going to come up short, again. We're the ones making an ugly first-round exit. Ugh!

don't worry the biggest play on sportscenter is the 2 la dodgers who tried to score at the same time when the mets catcher already had the ball at the plate, with nobody out. i saw it over and over and over.....

Too bad Baby Jesus is totally shitting a brick in the post season. (I'm going to guess that is the first time in the history of the English language that sentence has been written). WHEN the Twins lose to Oakland, I'll switch to rooting for the Cards. They deserve it.

mom~
Whoa, I saw that too this morning. Talk about sucktitude! That's gotta take the wind out of their sails.

I never said I can't have lunch with you. I offered to meet with you from 12:00 to 12:45 and let you bring Jimmy John's to the lab. You politely declined.

sorry things are rough, hope they turn up soon.

And although I don't know what Jimmy Johns is, it sounds good, and I would gladly bring it to the lab for you, you know, if I wasn't in Canada and all! ;)

yes, what is jimmy john's?

And hang in there, you know work comes in fits and bursts. Soon enough you'll be calling me because you're bored and have nothing to work on. Until then...

OMG, you poor deprived women! You both need to try Jimmy John's subs. Anon, I think you would loooove the veggie sub. It's yummy. I know work goes in fits in starts, just as much as you know I'll bitch about it either way ;)
