Attention Deficit Blogging or Bloggy Bits in Bullet Form

See? I couldn't even decide on a post title. I have not been able to concentrate in bloggy land lately. I think I have a post to write, then I lose it, or I don't have time to sit and type it. But mostly, they just never develop. They are like little blog tadpoles that swim around in my head but fail to get up on land and crawl. Here's a small sampling of what I've been thinking about.

  • I've lived nearly 30 years and just noticed recently after writing a mail to my boss that typing too fast or slipping on the keys MAY result in me typing my name Nastalie. I think that's awesome and am considering going by Dr. Nastalie next time I need a moniker for something.

  • Speaking of needing a moniker for one more thing, I sorta want to start twittering but don't want to jump on a huge bandwagon AFTER super lame people like Newt Gingrich have started. Now it's resistance based on principle but am not sure how long I can hold out.

  • Providence. I don't even know where to start with that one.

  • I am having an unhealthy love affair with Chinese food, which is threatening to erase the 30 pounds I lost over the last year and a half. I doesn't help that I work with mostly Chinese people who bring Chinese food for lunch everyday and the owner of a local Chinese restaurant parks a food truck thirty feet outside my office every single day at noon.

  • I feel like I should be dressing more like a grown up and wearing makeup but my job really doesn't let me. I bought a bunch of new clothes several weeks back and haven't worn any to work because I'm scared to ruin them with chemicals. And I don't wear them around the house, which pretty much leaves Saturday nights or running errands. Lame. I really hope I'm not reduced to still dressing like a college student 5 years from now.

  • I wish I could be BFF with Rachel Maddow.

  • Does anyone want to read the same book as me and discuss it? Just kidding. Sort of. I really miss my book club. I can't find one here and besides it took me four months to finish the last book I read.

  • Why can't I just get it together and blog regularly and keep in contact with family and friends? Why can't I concentrate on one thing?

Anyway, that's what's been on my mind. A whole lot of nothing. For those of you who tune in for the cat stuff (and those of you who barely tolerate it) here's another picture. These two having been palling around lately, they share an obsession for food, and strangely, the humidifier.

I'll read a book with you. What do you want to read?

Oh, and you have a torby too! (Tabby + Tortoiseshell = Torby) Except Nellie is a dilute torby, which aside from your lovely photos, I've never seen.

I truly adore Rachel. She is so smart and has my kind of humor.
I know what you mean about blogging. My life is pretty boring at this time and although I have snippets of thoughts, they disolve quickly. You pictures of the kitties are always cute.

Dr. Nastalie is a good typo! Well done. I cannot write "hadron" without transposing the middle two letters (and I laugh hysterically every time).

Providence? Good stuff or bad stuff. You aren't too far from where I lived from 1993 - 2004 (Southbridge, MA - which is sort of close to where the corner or CT and RI intersect MA). I don't miss New England much.

You can twitter if you want to, but I don't think it will help with your attention span or concentration.

I wish any of my cats would pal around together, but mostly they are into stalking and smacking each other for no good reason.

Those were good bullets. Your clothes one reminds me of people who have "good china" and never use it because "what if." Break out those clothes!

spants,
I think I will email you about the book. I have some ideas. Do you still use the same gmail account? As for Nellie, yeah it took me a little while to figure out exactly what she was. She is not only a dilute torby but a dilute CINNAMON torby (aka a "Fawn and Cream Torby"). I figure this out on the Messy Beast cat genetics page which is awesome if you have some time to kill. It's funny because I picked out Nellie to adopt because she has huge expressive eyes but also because growing up I had two cats - a tortie and an orange tabby and to me she looked kinda like a mixture of my two childhood cats.

minnesotablue,
Isn't she the best? I love that she has intelligent respectful discourse and not just partisan accusations and incendiary comments. But when she does poke fun at the right, it is so goofy. I like the way you described your thoughts on blogging. That's exactly how I feel.

fermi,
I love the hadron mixup. That cracks me up every time. Providence is frustrating more than anything. It's impossible to get around - I miss the grid layout and wide lanes of Tampa, but I know the age of this place has everything to do with the difficulty navigating. We also chose to live in a sort of run down part of town so that we could save our money since our time here is limited. So my commute to work is long. And I ride the bus because the University is so old that there is no parking except for limited street parking. Not to mention the Red Sox fans. I could go on, but I think I'll save that for another post. I'm sure we've got to be close to where you used to live though I'm not familiar with Southbridge.

beth,
Except China never goes out of style which makes it even stupider that I'm not wearing my nice clothes. Maybe I'll take your advice.

Dr. Nastalie sounds like a Bond villian - I LOVE it, and you could make it work and make it sexy

I have a huge file of tadpole posts - I'm usually best though when it just comes out

I have been hit or miss lately - just too much on my mind, I tend to retreat at times

I love their pose!! I'm still hoping for your niece and nephew to do that one day - hah!!

the latest development is that Siren will eat a bit from her bowl while she sits on the bed and glares at him - and she will sometimes walk into the room where his stuff is and drink his water - he seems to like that but if he goes to close to her she hisses and runs which makes him nervous for hours on end

I saw this as a sign and tried putting their food mats and their litter boxes in the same room, on separate sides - OMG! the panic and horror!! she sat on the bed and wailed and then laid down where her stuff used to be while Siren went behind the sofa and didn't come out all day

So everything is back where it was. Kitten steps I tell myself, kitten steps

I think you should shorten it to "Dr. Nasty" and just let them wonder.

I hope if I ever get a pal for Pudder, that they will snuggle like Nellie & McLovin. More likely, she will hiss and fluff up and just be a b*tch in general. But hey, we all have our quirks.

Oh, my two favorite Di's posted at almost the same time!

In order of appearance...

Dianne (hihidi),
That's hilarious about Mia and Siren. Boy, they sure don't like the slightest thing changed, do they? And each kitten step you take, you have to take a half step back it seems. I know I always say this, but give it time. Dynamics always change and who knows why but one day you might wake up to things completely different. Mia wailing - I wish I could have seen it. Until then, don't you dare move the boxes!

Diane (hot4teacha),
Just let them wonder. I like that. Too bad I'm a Ph.D. and not an M.D. I am completely for adopting adult cats, but if you want a guarantee (as much as cat behavior can be guaranteed) adding a kitten is always best. Remember when we had Stella for a few months? Nellie was a total bitch about it. She has grown from tolerating McLovin (I think she saw him not as a threat but as a dumb kid) to actually liking him.

Yep. Same email address.

Oh, and I totally think Dr. Nastalie needs to be pronounced nas-TAL-ee.

Dr. Nastalie - reminds me of Natasha Fatale (of Bullwinkle fame) for some reason.

I'm facinated with Twitter all of a sudden. I'm getting a taste of it by doing one for work. And i'm close to diving head first in. It could be fun...

If nothing else, we could follow each other :-)

Ok, I know Mandy and I are both cat lovers and all that -so I suppose it is natural for this but I do love it when you and Fermi and Dianne and others post the photos of your cats! So sweet!
Now about the weight concerns and Chinese food -I always heard that eating Chinese food was better for the person -supposedly not as high caloric value or some such. But think about it -how many Oriental people do you know or have you seen who have apparent weight issues? I'm betting not many so I take that as my cue that eating Oriental/Chinese foods is a darned good thing for trying to keep the weight off or down. Not that it has done me a world of good but then I tend to cook more Italian-type pasta stuff too. But I dearly love Chinese foods.

I'm totally on board with a book reading/discussion idea!
