Miss Funky Funk

I am in a funk right now. Whenever that happens, my friend calls me Miss Funky Funk, hence the title.

Work is slow. We are in between experiments so I am feeling unproductive, unmotivated and definitely unenergetic (is that a word?). Pretty much all I can do is read research papers, and after reading a half dozen in a day I feel my eyelids get heavy, and my brain feels saturated. This takes only a couple of hours.

I haven't felt much like writing either. I have things to say, I just don't feel like committing them to cyber space. To keep you updated, here's what I've contemplated writing at some time or another over the past week:

*Soft Claws, the best invention ever.

*The sudden appearance of teenager ducks in the pond, supporting my hypothesis that the last batch of babies wasn't eaten but confiscated by an animal interest group. Wishful thinking?

*Current book: The Red Tent (not for book group, for my own enjoyment).

*Talladega Nights, The Ballad of Ricky Bobby. Pretty funny despite my initial skepticism.

Anyway, none of these topics has gotten me to write so maybe they're not that interesting to begin with.

That's all.

The soft paws thing is really cool!! That is interesting enough and you already told me about them.

Now that I have been to the website I want to know....Did you put colored ones on the girl cats?

Simulating painted toenails on kitty cats is a line that I am not ready to cross as a cat owner...

Did you see the way the red ones on the black cats looked? That might be kinda cool...

I agree with runner girl. I'm too lazy to keep cutting the tips off.

I'm not surprsied, but I bet Beth would do it if it saved her furniture...

I concede it's not easier than trimming them, but it is waaaay more effective. I've always clipped their claws only to find them snagging up the furniture only a couple days later. These last 4-6 weeks. And if you fill all the covers with glue before you even pick up the cat, it takes the same amount of time. I know, I had the exact skepticism as you, and it isn't for everyone, just cat owners with complete freaks of nature, like me.

I guarantee she would have been all over it had that been an option. And it would have saved the furniture too.

Just dropping by too to remind you that there is nothing personal, no hard feelings and all that when it comes to debate on issues. I try not to be controversial, but I can't help myself sometimes.

those are great, I saw them a little while ago on another blog. My sister is trying to adopt a few cats, and I'm trying to convince her to get these for the cats!!

Tell your sister I'm the new spokeswoman for Soft Claws and can contact me for a testamonial ;)

Scott~
Thanks for stopping by. I had actually considered sending you an email to make sure I wasn't overstepping my bounds by speaking up so much lately. I think it's good to be controversial. Even if readers don't agree, it keeps them coming back (as long as your arguments are intelligent, which they always are). I wish I could be more controversial here, but I don't want to alienate myself from some of my family and friends. I don't care if I alienate myself from your friends! (J/K, LOL!)

However, I've learned that if you surround yourself with people who agree with you, your ideas and beliefs are never challenged and sometimes you need discourse to discover exactly what you are willing to take a stand about. Just random thoughts. Anyway, I always value our exchanges, even if they can get heated (really, it's nothing compared to blogs I lurk!) and I can promise you're not going to scare me away any time soon!

That was hilarious. I doubt anyone would be offended that drops by my place. Aside from Vallanin and perhaps one other, everyone thinks pretty much like you do on those subjects. Nobody has taken the gloves off yet, and if one of my friends did attack, I would delete the comment and coach them in more appropriate forms of communication.

Glad that you don't mind a little heat. Neither do I, but I like to send out little feelers once in a while to make sure everything is cool. I've lost a few friends having such discussions. Better safe than sorry.

As for disagreement, you are right. I am usually holding my own at parties around here, and love it when the heat lamps are on.
